Well it was coming was`nt it. A victory and a deserved one at that. Stars played all the football and handed out a right hammering. Stars laid attack after attack on the Eynsham goal as early as the first minute when Rhys had a shot saved. Further chances then fell to Max and Jamie but again they were denied. If this were a Boxing match I would be inclined to stop this one as the pressure mounted to fever pitch. The deadlock had to be broken and so it was. Rhys sold a classic dummy to the defender and hit a wonderfull cross for Max to hit home. Stars then went through the gears with chance after chance going begging. However, the turning point came about from a poor goalkick from the Eynsham keeper which landed at the feet of Rhys, and he greatfully fired home to double the score. Stars were now in complete control and were playing some top notch football. Just before the break they went three up. A fantastic move starting from Jack Peedle, to Jack Hamblin, to man of the match Sam Perry whose cross picked out Rhys, and his peach of a volley gave the keeper no chance. Joe came on at half time for Jack Hamblin. In the second half Stars took their foot of the pedal as they knew the game was won. Eynsham produced their only chance in the whole game, but it was not enough to trouble Damon. The game then filtered out in the freezing conditions. Sam had a chance in the dying seconds, but he smashed the ball at the keeper and the scoreline remained the same. Final score three nil. A great victory to get the season going. The standard of football by the Stars is increasing week by week, and if we play like that at Garden City next week, another three points will be coming home with us.
