Training last night was fantastic. I hope that all the boys enjoyed it as much as Peter and I. Quick reminder though, please ensure that arms and legs stay covered, I know from personal experience that falls, and the wait at the minor injuries unit can be very painful.
There is no game or training this weekend. Do appreciate the break as games will then be thick and fast! Please see the updated website > http://www.towerhillfc.org/under8s/mixed/fixtures_table.pl We have some very tough games against old acquaintances. We'll focus on enjoying the challenge and hoping that the boys continue to learn and develop.
We do have a game scheduled for 16th February when Tower Hill are hoping to arrange a day out including coaching and Oxford United v Droylsden. I have some leaflets for you (someone remind me at training next Tuesday!) - the cost is £15 per child, £10 per adult. Let me know if you'd like further information or to book places by 22nd January. If there's enough interest I'll try and move the game arranged for that day.
I'd also like to arrange trips to watch Swindon and Wycombe at minimal cost before the end of the season if we can fit them in.
Finally, the club has been allocated a number of FREE tickets (child and adult) for the England U19 v Croatia U19 international to be held at Swindon on Tuesday 5th Feb (7pm ko). Again, please let me know asap if you'd like any - if it's oversubscribed there may be a small charge.
regards, Liam

Kick Off! - 6th September 2007 (06/09/2007)
Me again! A few more things before the boys can finally play some football..... I have club registration forms - fees are payable by the end of October. Please remind me if I forget to distribute on Saturday.... Ryan's uncle at All Floors has kindly agreed to sponsor tracksuits for the players. Thanks to Tina and Phil for their persuasive powers! Could you try and forward a chest and waist size (actual) for each player - as we have a range of shapes and sizes I'll try to 'personalise' as much as I can, and allow plenty of room for growth. I'll put a tape measure in the bag for Saturday for any stragglers as I'd like to get ordered as soon as poss. The club is still not much further forward regarding confirming winter training details. In the meantime, we'll continue to train at West Witney on Tuesdays at 6.15pm. Carl Wheeler (U9s) is continuing to run a boot exchange for all - aim being to provide a cheap alternative whilst boots are being quickly outgrown. Let Carl or myself know if you're interested. I'm reliably informed that there's a guestbook linked to our web page, so feel free if you have anything to say or share......> http://www.towerhillfc.org/under8s/mixed/ Finally, I suggest that we have a quick Parents get together at 7pm next Tuesday (11th) in the club whilst the boys are training to help kick the season off - I know that some of you will have questions regarding the league etc - and I'm keen to reiterate some of the code of conduct stuff and our approach for the season. Enjoy the season, Liam
Latest club news - 14th March 2007 (14/03/2007)
1. Fancy taking a referees or coaches course? The club will support you if you do....let me know if you're interested.
2. The annual Tower Hill FC 6-a-side will take place on 5th and 6th May. This is an important fundraiser for the club, and any support will be appreciated. We'll be playing on the Saturday morning, but if you can assist with car parking, bbq etc at any point in the weekend, it will be a great help.
3. Additionally, there are plenty of sponsorship opportunities available for the 6-a-side. Prices range between £30-£70, and could cover programme advert and / or trophy sponsorship. Please give anyone who may be interested a nudge!
4. Membership cards for West Witney sports club are finally available. Remind me on Sunday if I forget to hand them out.
5. Finally, the club are introducing a 'boot swap' scheme. Given the number of fast growing feet in the area, the aim is to build a stock of outgrown football boots, which can then be recirculated, possibly for a small fee. So rather than throw them straight out or leave them to go mouldy in the garage....why not recycle them?

News Update (06/12/2006)
Sunday 16th - Family Day - to help make the last training before Christmas fun, ALL are welcome to join in - brothers, sisters, mums, dads....please give me an idea about numbers, so that I can have a vague think about organisation! We'll then break until Sunday 7th January.
I also have an impressive collection of lost property - let me know if you think you've lost anything, and please, try and take everything home with you each week!
Finally, the news you've all been waiting for.....the Tower Hill FC website is now live, if in an earlyish stage of population. Have a look in the under 7s section for 2007 matches arranged so far. If you'd like to help - with the website, or anything else - you're more than welcome.
I’d like to invite you to a Parents Meeting on Wednesday 20th September at 8.00pm in the clubhouse at West Witney.
It will be an ideal opportunity for us all to meet each other and will include introductions to Tower Hill and Mini Soccer and we can discuss how to make the season an enjoyable one. There should be something of interest to all (under 6 and under 7) so please come along if you can.
The first game for the u7s will be at home to Adderbury Park on Sunday 24th September.
Please let me know whether you can or can’t make it.
regards,
Liam Walsh Tower Hill FC Under 7s

Introduction and Signing On Forms (25/08/2006)
Dear Parent / Carer,
As I hope that you're aware, I'll be taking on the under 7s this season, assisted by Peter Cato. We will be training at West Witney at 10.30am on Sundays, and playing Mini Soccer matches, as arranged, against other clubs on Saturday or Sunday mornings. As per FA guidelines, I don't intend to arrange under 6 (as on 31 August 2006) matches, but u6 players are still welcome to sign on and train with us.
You’ll find attached a signing on form. Although there has been a price increase to £85, mainly to cover family membership of the West Witney club, this remains very competitive compared to others in the local area. Please return forms and payment to me.
Our team kit has been kindly sponsored by Motaquip of Witney. Many thanks to Jim Ashby and Matt Keeble for their help.
I will also be arranging a Parents Meeting / Evening for mid September. This will include a club introduction, and provide an opportunity for us all to meet each other, and to understand how you can help us to make the season an enjoyable one for us all.
Let me know if you have any questions. Here's to a great year!
regards,
Liam Walsh Tower Hill FC Under 7s

What is the best way to settle a cup tie that is level after normal time?
Extra time, then penalties
Straight to penalties
Golden goal extra time, then penalties
Golden goal all the way, removing one player from each team at regular intervals
Extra time, then shootout - players start on halfway and have 15 seconds to shoot
Might as well just toss a coin!
