Before i write about each match all i can say is WELL DONE BOYS....every single one of you played great today despite rubbish weather and heavy muddy ground....
Match One
Tower Hill Stars 0 Bampton 4
Elliott the cat in goal played absolutely brilliantly despite no studs and slipping all over the place....his kicks gave me near heart attacks but his saves were amazing!! In defence Jake and Zack were great as usual but the midfield field player from Bampton surprised them each time coming through to score all four of their goals! Our midfield battled bravely with Bradley, Ruairi and Jamil making it hard for Bampton to play and putting together some nice moves of their own. Jacob was a sole forward again running like mad and really working hard to help create chances which we were unfortunate not to turn into goals, maybe next time! All in all some very promising work and over the summer we can practice our passing and finishing to ensure we make the most of all our chances....a great game well played by all the boys!!!
Match Two
Tower Hill Stars 0 Bampton 1
A great game here again with Josh and Jacob sharing the goalkeeping duties, both playing fantastically well and very unlucky to concede a goal. In defence Joe and George played great together to make sure they covered any moves Bampton made with strong tackles and interceptions...the best they have both played all season! In midfield Bradley played like four men (well, boys!) tackling and pressurising constantly with lively help from Owen and Jamil, Josh and Ruairi. Up front John did his best to be a nuisance hassling their defence and when he had chances going close with shots and setting up his team mates for attempts at goal. A really close game throughout with our boys hitting the post three times and their goal keeper making a string of amazing saves to stop what would have been a deserved win....Bampton then creapt in to score a last minute winner after a speedy break and Jacob getting stuck in the mud trying to stop the ball crossing the line!
A really miserable day with the rain and mud but all worthwhile for a really great day of positive entertaining football mostly played by our two great teams of twelve very determined boys!!! WELL DONE AGAIN.....I`m very proud of all of you!!!
